NZDF to mark anniversary at Wellington International Pride Parade 2019

1 min readFeb 19, 2019

2019 marks the 25th anniversary of the NZDF lifting its ban on open service. Join Chief of Defence Force in marking this important occasion in our history, honouring those who served in silence and celebrating how far we have come as an inclusive Force for New Zealand, a Force that values all of its people!

If you are a serving member of the NZ Defence Force, a Retiree or Veteran*, member of the Reserve or Cadet Forces, register your interest to march with us at Overwatchevents@nzdf.mil.nz.

Participation is open to all members of the Defence Force whanau, whether an LGBT+ serviceperson, or straight ally. Come show your Pride in the Defence Force and help us celebrate 25 years of Open Service!

The parade is to be held in Wellington on 16 March at 6.00pm. Transport plans are currently under action to ensure people from our camps and bases away from the capital can join us. Full admin details will be available shortly.

If you are a former serving member of the NZDF, please include your rank upon leaving the service and service number in your email.
