The Chief of Defence Force, Lieutenant General Tim Keating, has hosted a visit to New Zealand by the United Kingdom’s Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Sir Stuart Peach, and Chief of Defence Force Australia, Air Chief Marshal Mark Binskin.

The three Chiefs of Defence held their biennial meeting, known as BRITANZ, last Thursday and Friday. The meeting was also attended by representatives from the Australian and British High Commissions in Wellington

“These meetings provide a forum for maintaining relationships with defence counterparts and understanding their points of view on issues of mutual interest,” Lieutenant General Keating said.

These issues included countering violent extremism, enhancing soldiers’ performance and regional security.

“The meetings are a good opportunity to build on the strong relationships the three forces already have, and to further enhance interoperability and shared understanding,” he said.
